Doug Johnston

It was love at first sight when I came across Doug Johnston's line of cotton cord accessories. That tote! It would make such a perfect summer carryall for bike rides to the beach. And the trivets and baskets are so clever and naturally beautiful.

The Bannerman Castle Trust, Aug.11

After spotting this little island and decrepit castle from the train on my way to Dia:Beacon last Fall, it's been high on my list of places to visit! It's so picturesque and I can't imagine a better time to explore it than during this upcoming season of colorful leaves and crisp air. Check out their site for more info and events...Farm Fresh Dinner at the castle? YES PLEASE.

Banana boats, July.11

Am I the last person on earth to learn of banana boats?!?!? Now that I've been enlightened, these sweeties will be making after-dinner appearances at BBQs and camping trips forever more.

summerhouse, july.11

Hello you hot little summerhouse. I love your rustic wooden shingle exterior juxtaposed with your south beach citrus tiled pool and beachy boardwalk patio. Would you be mine? I'm willing to relocate.

school's out for summer, june.11

I know the first official day of summer was a few days ago, but today feels like the official official start to me. It's a sunny Saturday, I slept in (waayyy in), I have a freezer full of homemade cocktail popsicles (popsitails? popsicocks? cocksicles?...probably not) and suddenly a whole lot of free time! More to come from my unexpected summer vacation...

slooowww doowwwn, aug.10

i had never seen this photo of audrey before and i really love it. lately life has been lovely, but crazy busy.

although i already know how i'll be spending almost every moment of my weekend, audrey up there is the inspiration for my approach to it all...relaxed-in-the-grass.

have a good weekend!

Paul Bloom on Pleasure, aug.10

I'm slightly disturbed but completely intrigued by this book review...pleasure comes in many shapes and sizes. Maybe a suggestion for my next cool club (= book club) rendez-vous. What's on your bookshelf these days?

hot fun in the summertime, july'10

aside from yesterday, the weather this summer has been sooo amazing! much better than last year's month-long downpour.

i've spent my sunny days so far eating lobster on a weekly basis, sipping rosé (has anyone else noticed this revival??), taking looong bike rides on my new beauty, tending to my herb babies, lots of bbqs and finally investing in some chaise lounges for the rooftop. maybe just a little more beach time as per the lovelies below and i'll be set.

make: shaved asparagus + lemon ricotta pizza, july '10

it's still hot as jalapeños in new york and the idea of baking makes me uncomfy, but a girl has got to eat. this recipe just shot straight to the top of my list...it's asparagus season and lemon + ricotta sounds like a winning combination. plus it only requires about 20 minutes of actual bake time. stay cool in the kitchen with a cherry mash up.

pretty much all of her recipes make my mouth water.

went: little red lighthouse

6/26: 18 miles from carroll gardens to the little red lighthouse, dinosaur bbq for lunch, blueberry beer and some world cup-watching and then 18 miles home. my boo surprised me with a perfect bottle of white wine with a biciclette on the label to round out a perfect day.
