king cake for a queen, feb.10

when i was young my mom would sometimes surprise my sis and i with a traditional new orleans king cake on mardi gras. with fat tuesday just around the corner, how fun would it be to make your own shimmery, sugary ring of iced sweetness? more fun? finding the plastic baby in my slice of cake...and being queen for a day.

the traditional colors are green, gold and purple but i love lottie + doof's sparkly pastel version.

my boo passed the NY bar!!!! he just got the news this morning! of course i knew this all along, but i'm so happy he finally knows. we will have a romantic celebration of juicy burgers here, followed by library cocktails and lawyerly conversation here. join us at the bar!
